The video is not so perplexing if you know the story…
James Murphy (DFA, LCD Soundsystem) is featured in the video, borrowed one of the Hot Chip band members for his live shows and didn’t want to give him back. Text messages ensued and then a song was written about it.

Fair enough! I guess that context means it makes a little more sense. I still think the song and the video are both rubbish though.
