Been listening quite a bit to the Jamie xx mix he did for Radio 1 right at the beginning of the year and had to hunt down that tropical, soulful track it opens with.
As the title suggests it’s got a conscious vibe to it, but never too saccharine. Even the congos have a drum machine monotony to them, rather than a jazzy, pseudy poet’s corner feel.
Also, make sure you check out Flying Lotus’ mix and live set on the same show from a couple of nights back. It’s over at Passion of the Weiss.
